Bun Bang Fai - Rocket Festival

This festival is held in the
North-Eastern part of Thailand. The
locals build rockets from bamboo. The
build so many that sometimes they tie
them together to create giant walls of
bamboo rockets. They then set them off
so that the nights sky is alight with
fireworks. The point of the festival is
to drive away bad spirits and allow the
rain to soak the rice fields. The best
places to go to for this festival is
Yasothon, Ubon Ratchathani and Nong
Khai. |
